De Zalmhaven
Barcol-Air CERA units for the apartments
The Zalmhaven is the new landmark of the Rotterdam skyline. Not only is the Zalmhaven the tallest prefab tower in the world, but at a height of 215 meters, it is also the tallest residential tower in the Benelux. Located in the Scheepvaartkwartier district, the Zalmhaven offers its residents stunning views of the city center, the River Maas, the Museumpark, and the Erasmus Bridge.
Several companies from the HC Group contributed to this remarkable project, including the CERA ventilation system, which ensures a comfortable living environment in the more than 260 apartments.
Liberty air handling units equipped with Barcol-Air CERA LBK controllers
At the top of De Zalmhaven is the technical room, where Rosenberg has installed two central Liberty air handling units. Despite their dimensions of approximately 4 by 4 meters, the LBKs have a low weight thanks to their fully composite construction. This made it possible to lift the units as a whole up to the technical room, which can also be seen in the video below.
The delivered Liberty air handling units provide the supply of fresh outside air and the extraction of indoor air in the more than 260 apartments, using the CERA controller supplied by Barcol-Air. The LBKs are equipped with a crossflow heat exchanger and each can handle an airflow of 40,000 m³/h.
HC TS stairwell pressurisation systems
In De Zalmhaven, there is a spiral staircase spanning 60 floors, which is interrupted on the 30th floor by a structural separation. HC TS has installed a pressurization system from the ground floor up to the 29th floor, and another pressurization system from the 30th floor up to the 59th floor. The special feature of this installation is that it is not the staircase itself that is pressurized, but rather the anteroom.
By supplying air from the ground floor or the roof, the airlocks are pressurized. The air and smoke are extracted from the corridor area through exhaust shafts connected to exhaust fans. Because the air is being extracted, there is sufficient air velocity over the door between the corridor and the anteroom, keeping the anteroom free of smoke and ensuring that residents can safely evacuate at all times.
