With the completion of the Borgstede project in Barendrecht, Swegon the Netherlands once again adds an impressive synergy project to its portfolio! Rosenberg as Barcol-Air are all providing innovative solutions that contribute to an optimal indoor climate for care recipients.

Standard configuration for healthcare

The Borgstede project marks significant progress toward a standard configuration for climate technology in the healthcare sector. A concept was specifically developed for this purpose in close collaboration with Woonzorg Nederland and Hiensch Engineering B.V., aligning with climate guidelines for long-term care. In each room, factors such as temperature, humidity, and CO2 levels are monitored. In addition to providing insights into the indoor climate, these results also support actionable decision-making.

Contribution Swegon the Netherlands

In the Borgstede project, three disciplines of Swegon the Netherlands are combined into a beautiful synergy solution.

The care apartments are equipped with Barcol-Air’s energy-efficient CERA system, which controls ventilation demand-driven based on local CO2 measurements. Rosenberg supplies the central heat recovery units (HRUs) for the CERA system with its own line of composite Liberty air handling units. The connecting factor throughout the project is the solutions provided by Barcol-Air. In addition to the control cabinet for the primary installations, Barcol-Air also delivers the standardized LBK control system for the Liberty air handling units. This includes, among other things, the connection of all CERA units to the Schneider Electric building management system and enables features such as remote monitoring. This allows very targeted service and maintenance to take place within the apartments.

About Borgstede

In Barendrecht, a completely new care facility is being built for people with intensive care needs. In addition to 99 modern apartments, the building also includes various care facilities. The residents' quality of life was central to the design, which cleverly combines this aspect with the social role the building plays within the surrounding neighborhood. The apartments are divided into their own “neighborhoods,” each equipped with its own community room and exercise space. This allows residents to live independently while also easily joining a familiar social circle. General amenities include a sensory room and a theater. Around the building, a spacious ecological garden will be created for residents and their visitors to fully enjoy.

Construction is progressing in several phases, with the first wing of the new building expected to be operational in the fall of 2023. The entire project is anticipated to be completed in 2025.
